Non-Toxic Baby Bath Products

When it comes to non-toxic baby products, bath time is a great place to make some safer choices. Whether your babe is taking a bath every day or a few times a week, it is still a significant source of exposure. I've compiled a list of the best 'clean' bath products - from soap to toys to the bathtub itself! You can check out our Amazon storefront for even more suggestions.

Bath Tub

This Skip Hop Moby Bathtub was our bathtub from her very first bath and still works for us now at nine months old! It converts from a newborn tub (baby lays down in the mesh sling), to a supported sitting tub, to the one we use now (we removed the mesh and she sits on her own in the little whale). This works better than putting her in our big bathtub; it has a non-slip surface and it's a lot less water to fill! The Skip Hop Moby Bathtub is BPA, PVC, and phthalate free, not to mention a cute whale design. Overall, it's a great choice for a tub for their first year of life at least.

Bath Soap

We tried a variety of clean baby soaps to find one that we liked and that was non-toxic. I actually had a few that were good options so I will link them all here! If you want a truly 'clean' product, you have to forgo artificial fragrance, but Sloane still somehow still had that "baby" smell and I'm sure your little one will too. Earth Mama Baby Soap and Attitude Shampoo and Body Wash are both pricier options I like, but I am also a fan of the Pipette brand (a little of this one goes a long way)! All three of these options are free of the major toxins and chemicals we want to avoid as well as being tear-free. I can't say I had a favorite, although we only went through one bottle of each, so I may have to try them all again in the future!

Washcloths

When it came to washcloths, I wanted something made of organic material and free of chemical dyes. I personally use these organic cotton washcloths by Lion Bear - they are soft and the perfect size for the bath. Bonus: I soaked these in breast milk and popped them in the fridge for her to suck on when she was teething! Another reason to buy clean products, since I felt confident with her putting them in her mouth. If you were hoping for a different fabric, here are some organic bamboo cloths instead: Smiling Gaia and Comfy Cubs.

Bubble Bath

Even if your baby can't fully enjoy the bubbles just yet, I used to love giving Sloane a bubble bath every once in a while as a baby and she loves it as a toddler. Unfortunately, most bubble baths aren't very clean, and the ones that are tend to not be as long lasting. However, I've narrowed it down to my two favorite clean brands that are free from toxic ingredients but also provide a good "bubbling" to the bath. Alaffia is a great brand and their bubble bath comes in a lemon lavender scent, and Attitude is a staple in our household coming in both "Good Night" and "Pear Leaves". You can't go wrong with any of these options.

Bath Toys

If your baby is anything like Sloane, they love to play in the bath - and subsequently, put all of the bath toys they have directly into their mouth. That reason alone made me want to avoid plastic bath toys, but I was also looking for ones that were more resistant to mold and easy to clean. I found a few options, both natural rubber and silicone, that fit the bill perfectly! The seahorse and sea turtle are both 100% pure natural rubber and the three pack of starfish are dishwasher safe and free of BPA, PVC, and phthalates.

Bath Towels

Rounding out the bath time list is a hooded bath towel - not only are they adorable, but they keep baby warmer and drier from the tub to the changing table. Here are a few hooded bath towels that are made of organic fabric. I personally use the Natemia Organic Hooded Bath Towel (we have them in three colors!). They are so big that we'll definitely be using them into toddlerhood and are both soft and made of organic cotton. A slightly less expensive version is the mushie Hooded Organic Cotton Hooded Towel - also made of organic cotton, gentle on sensitive skin, and comes in several colors. If you're looking for an animal version (although the Natemia has little bear ears), the Foreverpure 100% Organic Bamboo Cotton Hooded Towel has a puppy face and ears while still coming in various color options. It is made of natural and organic material, has two size choices, and claims to dry your baby faster!

By swapping out the major products your baby comes into contact with when bathing, you can limit their exposure to toxins and truly 'clean up' your bath time!
